On Thursday, April 17, Joshua O’Hara rang Sara Haiduc’s doorbell with cash in his hand in a neighborhood in St. Clair Shores. When she didn’t answer, he left the $10 bill with a note in her mailbox, according to a home surveillance video that Haiduc posted on Facebook later that day.
“I want to say Thank You!! To the Amazing Mail Man today! Who found $10.00 in my driveway and left it in my mailbox for me!!” Haiduc wrote in the post, captioning the video and a picture of the bill with the note that reads, “Found on your driveway.”
Haiduc thanked the then-unknown postal worker for the act of kindness and wrote on the picture of the money, “My mail man/woman is the sweetest!” with a heart.
For O’Hara, it was just a regular Thursday. He was on his normal route when he spotted the $10 in a driveway.

“The way it was positioned, it looked like it fell out of their pocket when getting into the car,” O’Hara told ABC affiliate WXYZ of finding the money. “So, because nobody came, I left a note just so it wouldn’t fall to the bottom of the box and nobody would see it.”
When Haiduc found the cash and note after work, she thought, “No way!”
“Honestly, I was just like, ‘That was like the sweetest thing,’ ” she added.
In recognition of the small act of generosity, Haiduc is now planning on “doing a good deed” with the money. O’Hara hopes that people will be inspired to be kind. Whether it’s helping a grieving neighbor or complimenting a cashier, it’s worth the extra effort to help others, he told WXYZ.
O’Hara’s neighborhood has noticed. After Haiduc posted about the incident on Facebook, some locals recognized O’Hara.

“That’s my mailman,” wrote one person in response to the video. “He’s the best.”
“Thank you Josh for being an awesome man,” wrote another.
The man of the moment also chimed in.
“Being kind to others doesn’t cost a thing,” O’Hara wrote in response to Haiduc’s post. “You never know who needs it, and one good deed can have a ripple effect.”
