Amy Schumer Says John Cena Was âActually Inside Herâ During X-Rated Scene
Amy Schumer has revealed that John Cena was âactually inside herâ during the filming of an intimate scene for a movie. Schumer played a commitment-averse party girl named Amy in the 2015 romantic comedy Trainwreck, where she starred alongside Cena. Her character struggles with monogamy and becomes involved in various relationships, including one with Cenaâs character, Steven, a dedicated fitness enthusiast.
Their on-screen chemistry resulted in a particularly notable and provocative scene, which both actors have discussed on several occasions. Schumer previously expressed her amazement at Cenaâs physique, stating (according to the Daily Star): âItâs a whole universe, that butt⊠Itâs not even human. It felt like having a refrigerator on top of me.â She humorously added, âI think it was probably harder for him. He had to, like, do something. I just did what I usually do when I have s**. Just lay there.â

The comedian also mentioned a significant regret from the experience: âYou know what? I didnât get to feel his balls. Itâs a major regret of mine. Major regret.â Conversely, Cena characterized the filming of the scene as âawkward.â In a 2015 interview with Conan, the professional wrestler acknowledged, âIt was awkward. And they wanted awkward, so we gave them awkward.â
During a guest appearance on Shannon Sharpeâs Club Shay Shay podcast, Cena elaborated on the difficulties of shooting the scene. He recounted how the production team informed him that he would be performing an exaggerated comedic s** sequence rather than delivering scripted lines. âAmy is an angel; she made the environment so comfortable,â Cena remarked. âAnd then when I got the part, eventually they were like, âYeah, itâs a s** scene. We want you to do elaborate and crazy stunt s, and all those lines you had? Weâre probably not going to use them; weâre just going to do this stunt s scene.ââ Despite his experience performing in front of audiences due to his wrestling career, Cena admitted that acting in a s** scene was a completely different challenge.

The actor elaborated, stating, âHereâs the reality â at this moment, you all at home might believe itâs just the two of us. However, thereâs an entire world behind the scenes.â He went on to describe the atmosphere on set: âCatering was conveniently located nearby, and the sound tent was just a stoneâs throw away. A film production requires a multitude of people. There is nothing personal about it. Absolutely nothing. It can be quite embarrassing.
âThey were essentially instructing us to engage in the most awkward scenes possible. With an audience present, it changes the experience entirely.
âI wouldnât say itâs terrible. Itâs simply not what you might expect.â
After the podcast, Schumer playfully reacted on her Instagram Stories, sharing a video of herself in bed with the caption: âJohn, how could you?â
She humorously added, âThat intimate scene was significant to me, and I was genuinely invested in it. Plus, Iâm in love with you.â
Cena also disclosed that he was reluctant to inform his then-girlfriend, WWE star Nikki Bella, about the scene in advance. In a previous interview, he acknowledged, âNicole had every reason to be upset since I didnât mention it to her initially. I never really approached her with, âIâm planning to do this.â

âNicole was justified in her anger because I should have communicated with her from the start.â
Schumer also revealed some behind-the-scenes insights regarding the scene. When asked during an Australian talk show how she managed to maintain a straight face while filming the intimate scene, she joked, âBecause he was actually inside me. Who am I to intervene?â
Although clearly a jest, her remark contributed to the lightheartedness surrounding their on-screen chemistry.
Co-star Bill Hader, who was part of the conversation, interjected, stating, âWrestlers, theyâre not pretending. When theyâre in the ring, itâs all real!â
To which Schumer humorously replied, âItâs genuine.â
